ACADEMY TEACHERS

Kim_Tabor.jpg
Hello, my name is Mrs. Kim

I am the middle & high school facilitator and all around “go-to” person for the Rock Academy. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, with an emphasis in computer science, from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. I LOVE ALL THINGS MATH – Spreadsheets are my FAVORITE!!

I have been married to my “high-school sweetheart” for nearly 20 years and we have 3 amazing daughters that I have homeschooled from a young age, as well as been an active member of my church and community.

I am so excited about the upcoming school year! I love working with students and catching all of those “ah-ha” moments. My goals for the year are to work closely with each of our families to create an environment that encourages learning in each of our students and to continue to make The Rock Academy the best it can be. We are a team – Facilitator-Parent-Student! I know we are going to have a great time this school year and cannot wait to spend the next year learning and growing with you, and your kiddos, as a Rock Family!

Hello, my name is Mrs. Jewel O'Fallon

Hi Rock Academy Families! My name is Jewel O'Fallon and I am the K-2nd teacher this year! I have taught first grade in a local school district. I have been a stay at home mom for the last year taking care of my sweet Georgia (11 months old). This is my first year at The Rock Academy and I'm so ready!! I am excited to teach through a hands on learning experience while watching your students flourish as learners. When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family. We love to travel, spend time outside and look for new adventures. I look forward to getting to know my students and their families.

Hello, my name is Mrs. Emma Waters

I am the middle school, 6th-7th grade teacher. I grew up in Connecticut and attended Baylor from 2017-2021 where I received my degree in secondary education. During that time I student-taught for three years and coached tennis. I worked for a semester following graduation at a public school where I taught and coached grades 6-12. From January of 2022 - May of 2023 I completed my Masters of Education in Sport Management. During this time I created a published study on the correlation between the cost of athletic facilities and program success. I am a follower of Christ and was the Fellowship of Christian Athletes leader when I was teaching. I currently attend Willow Park Baptist church. I have a passion and a calling for education and knowledge. I have always loved working with children and understand the importance of establishing a routine for them. I moved to the Aledo area in May of 2023 to be closer to my now husband who was born and raised in Aledo.

In the classroom, I strive to be open and transparent. Especially with this education model, I feel that it is crucial for parents to be highly involved and therefore send out weekly newsletters and a check-in called "Glow, Grow, and Woah". One of my favorite things about our education model is that we can cater more directly to the needs of each child and instruct them in ways that best support them academically. One of my goals with all of my students is to help them learn how to support their opinions and discuss disagreements with others. I want students to be able to understand how God works in all facets of life and support them as they grow into their age of accountability.

Hello, I am Ms. Janet Kidwell

I teach Language Arts, Reading and Social Studies to learners in grades three through seven.

I have been in this area all my life, born and raised.  I am a member of First Baptist Church Mineral Wells.  In 2000, I graduated from Tarleton State University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and English.  My teaching career began in Fort Worth ISD, and I have since taught in Dallas, Irving, Mineral Wells and Millsap.  And over an occasional summer break, I have run the school-age programs for Primrose and KinderCare.  I hold several active Texas teaching certificates, including Elementary Self-Contained, Elementary English, Elementary Reading, Early Childhood as well as English as a Second Language.  Having been in the field of education for almost a quarter of a century, I have worked with a multitude of learners over a variety of disciplines.

I have no children, and I am owned by my cat, Jack.  When not at school, you can find me at a pool table.  Being an avid billiards player, I compete in tournaments all over the region.  This has given me the opportunity to meet so many interesting people from all walks of life.

Thank you for entrusting me with your most valuable and prized possession… your children.  I can tell you that is something that I do not take lightly.  I have always made it a priority to be someone that students, as well as parents, know that they can come to with anything.  I am always available with an ear to listen, a shoulder to cry on, a hand for high-fives or simply a smile for reassurance.  My class is a place where students can be themselves without the fear of judgement, take risks with their learning and know that it is okay to make mistakes… because that is how we learn.
