ACADEMY TEACHERS

Kim_Tabor.jpg
Hello, my name is Mrs. Kim.

I am the middle & high school facilitator and all around “go-to” person for the Rock Academy. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, with an emphasis in computer science, from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. I LOVE ALL THINGS MATH – Spreadsheets are my FAVORITE!! I am also working towards getting my Advanced Level National Tutoring Certification.

I have been married to my “high-school sweetheart” for nearly 20 years and we have 3 amazing daughters that I have homeschooled from a young age, as well as been an active member of my church and community.

I am so excited about the upcoming school year! I love working with students and catching all of those “ah-ha” moments. My number one goal for the year is to work closely with each of our families to create an environment that encourages learning in each of our students. We are a team – Facilitator-Parent-Student! I know we are going to have a great time this school year and cannot wait to spend the next year learning and growing with you, and your kiddos, as a Rock Family!

Hello, my name is Mrs. Michelle

I will be teaching the elementary grades for the 2021-2022 school year. I graduated from TCU with a Bachelor's Degree in Education and a Reading Specialization. I also have four minors: English, Speech Pathology, Social Work and Psychology. I am certified to teach Elementary Education through the eighth grade. This will be my twenty-ninth year of teaching.

I am passionate about guiding children to understanding and growth in all areas of development. Encouraging a curiosity for learning in a positive environment will be a daily expectation. I want your children to love coming to school and to really enjoy being part of a learning community. We will be using manipulatives, educational stories and games as enrichment to the Abeka curriculum. These experiences create understanding by incorporating critical thinking skills which are a necessity in problem solving and real-world application. However, the best part is that it is fun and creates laughter while learning.

During my free time you can always find me trail walking or camping with friends and family. I also enjoy cooking, reading, music and playing with my pets. I am excited and looking forward to working together as partners in your child's journey next year!

Hello, my name is Mrs. Christine!

This is my first year at The Rock and I will be teaching 4-6th grade. I love to teach math and english, numbers and grammar are my thing! I received my degree in business from the University of North Texas.  I then went on to receive my teaching certificates, EC-6 and 4-8. I taught 5th grade math before changing districts and subbing for the last 11 years.

I married my high school sweetheart and we have been married for 16 years. We just moved out to Brock this past summer.  We also have 3 wonderful kiddos. My oldest daughter, 14, is in the marching band for Brock and enjoys athletics. My middle daughter, 11, is on the team here at The Rock, and my son, 8, enjoys playing baseball and being outside. You can usually find us poolside in the summer!

I believe that every student deserves to learn how it best fits them. There is no "one size, fits all" learning theory. I will incorporate games, hands-on activities, and technology into the Abeka curriculum to keep learning fun and engaging. I love watching the face of my students when they fully grasp a concept! It is one of the best feelings knowing you helped a students' mind grow. I am so excited for this school year and to learn and grow with my students and their families.
